The Jambalaya Festival is heading back to Gonzales, Louisiana from May 21 through May 24, 2026, bringing four days of food, family fun, live music, and one of the state's most beloved cooking traditions to
the Lamar Dixon Expo Center. Known as the “Jambalaya Capital of the World,” Gonzales has hosted the
festival for decades, turning it into
one of the state's most recognizable celebrations of Louisiana culture and community.
For locals across Ascension Parish and surrounding South Louisiana communities, the Gonzales Jambalaya Festival has become a Memorial Day weekend tradition built around hometown pride, great music, and generations of Louisiana cooking.
Gonzales Celebrates the “Jambalaya Capital of the World”

The city of Gonzales officially earned the title “Jambalaya Capital of the World” in 1968, and the annual Jambalaya Festival continues to celebrate the traditions that helped put the area on the map.
Throughout the weekend, teams gather around wood fired cast iron pots while visitors fill the grounds for carnival rides, local vendors, live music, and, of course, fresh jambalaya served daily. From longtime locals to first time visitors, the festival captures the kind of atmosphere that makes South Louisiana festivals feel different from anywhere else.
The World Championship Jambalaya Cooking Contest

At the center of the festival is the World Championship Wood Fired Jambalaya Cooking Contest, where cooks from across the region compete in one of Louisiana’s most respected food traditions.
The competition includes mini pot contests, junior competitions, semifinals, and championship rounds throughout the weekend before the 2026 World Champion is officially crowned on Sunday evening.
Recent years have also brought a special family storyline to the competition. In 2025, Jared White earned the title of World Champion Jambalaya Cook, while his son Jayden White made history as the first Junior Jambalaya Champion. Moments like that are a reminder that the Gonzales Jambalaya Festival is not just about competition, but about passing traditions down through generations.
Louisiana Country Music Artists Take the Stage

For Louisiana Country Music, the live music lineup is one of the biggest reasons to keep this festival on your radar this year.
Parish County Line will headline Friday night from 8:30 PM to 11:00 PM, while Lauren Lee Band takes the stage Saturday night from 9:45 PM to 11:30 PM. Both artists continue to represent the growing momentum surrounding Louisiana country music, and we have loved getting to feature them on LCM Live surrounding this year’s festival. Derek Shipley of Parish County Line joined us last week to talk about the upcoming performance, and we will be catching up with Lauren Lee tonight ahead of festival weekend.
LCM’s Ronnie Calhoun will also be part of the festival, helping MC and introduce the music throughout the weekend. We love getting to be involved with festivals like this that not only bring people together, but also support local communities, showcase Louisiana artists, and keep Louisiana music culture thriving.
