Parish-County Line was formed in February 2012 when lead singer Derek Shipley decided it was time to get off the stool and provide Baton Rouge with a style of music unlike anything else in the area. Derek had been playing and singing local bars for well over a decade, usually in the corner with an acoustic or as an accompaniment to other artists. Feeling the urge to do something new, Derek sought out drummer Riley Varnado and bass player Travis Hood to test the waters in creating a new project. After their first practice they all knew it was going to be something special. Derek being from Centreville, Mississippi and Riley and Travis being from Denham Springs, Louisiana, Derek had the idea to name the band “Parish-County Line.” For several months the trio played any restaurant or bar that was willing to let them play. After a few months of playing, they were introduced to Ross Pilcher of St. Francisville and he immediately became an asset to the band’s sound. A year later, Parish-County Line is busy booking gigs at bars and clubs all the way from Baton Rouge to Shreveport! Come out and see them if they’re in your area. You’ll be sure to have a good time!
